• Same images, new home. 157,728 approved Image Exchange images, with their titles, captions, alt text, credits, licenses, audit trails, and who uploaded and approved them, now live in the Voltax Media Library under Image Exchange.

• Same place in the editor. You still use the Image Exchange panel in the article editor; it now searches the new library. Picking an image still copies it into your site and lets you crop it, just like before.

• Bigger uploads. The Media Library now accepts images up to 100MB, the same as the old Image Exchange. For images larger than 2560px, the full-size original is kept and can be downloaded.

• Download any image from its details drawer.

• Less typing. Uploads fill in title, caption and credit from the photo's embedded details (press photos usually carry them).

• Better search. Search matches the title, caption, alt text, credit, tags and audit trail (e.g. the press site name).

1. In the article editor, open the Image Exchange panel (same as before).

2. Type what you're looking for: a show, a person, a team, or a press site like "Netflix" or "HBO Max". Search covers the title, caption, alt text, credit, tags and audit trail.

3. Scroll the results and click Load more for more.

4. Click an image to preview it, then select it.

5. Crop it, check the caption, alt text and credit, and insert it.

Good to know

• Only approved images show up, just like before.

• The vertical filter is gone. Search by name or topic instead.

• Credit and caption are filled in for you from the library. License is not copied into the article. Check the image's license in the Media Library if you're unsure you can use it.

• The image is copied into your site when you insert it, so later changes in the library don't affect published articles.

Anyone with upload rights on Image Exchange (Media Contributor or Media Admin) can add images for everyone to use.

1. Open Media Library and switch to Image Exchange.

2. Click Upload and pick one or more images: JPG, PNG or WebP, at least 400×224 pixels, up to 100MB each.

3. The details fill in from the photo where it has them: Title (headline, else file name), Caption, Credit, License, and Alt text when the photo includes an accessibility description.

4. Review and complete the details, then:

   • Save keeps your changes without publishing.

   • Submit for approval (Contributors) sends the image to an admin.

   • Approve (Admins) makes it available to everyone. Approving needs Alt text and a Credit of at least 2 characters.

Long text is fine. Caption, alt text and credit can hold long press text. Past the recommended length you'll see a warning, but nothing is cut off. In an article, the caption is still limited to 500 characters and alt text to 125.

Click any image in the Media Library to open its details.

Why two sizes? Big press photos, some over 20,000 pixels wide, are too heavy to serve in articles. The library delivers an optimized copy that fits 2560×2560, which is what articles, cropping and search results use, and keeps the untouched original for download. About 40,000 migrated Image Exchange images have one.

The article editor's Image Upload panel got a few improvements too:

• A Title field.

• Auto-fill: pick a photo and its title, caption and credit fill in from its embedded details. The fields lock for a moment ("Reading image details…") while that happens.

• Two-line fields: caption, alt text and credit start at two lines. Drag the corner to make them bigger.

• Crop options are clearly labelled, including 9:16. Choose None to keep the whole image.

• Size limit is still 5MB here. For bigger files, upload them to the Media Library first (up to 100MB), approve them, then insert them with the Voltax Images panel (your site's library) or the Image Exchange panel (the shared library).

Not moved: 11 approved images. Their files no longer exist anywhere, not on images.fansided.com and not in the backups. They're listed with titles, credits and sources on MM-15087 in case anyone wants to re-upload them from the original press site. (One is a duplicate of an image that did move.)

14 migrated images have no downloadable original. WordPress reused their file names, so the original file was overwritten. The image itself is there, works normally, and can be downloaded from its file name.

Is images.fansided.com going away?
Yes, it is being retired and will redirect. Please don't upload or edit there any more. Changes made there won't carry over. Use the Media Library instead.

I uploaded to the old Image Exchange recently. Is my image in the new library?
Everything approved there up to the switch on Sep 24, 2026 is in. If something approved around then is missing, contact support with the images.fansided.com link.

Can I still use images I already put in articles?
Yes. Images already in articles are not affected.

Why can't I find an image I know was in Image Exchange?
Try a different word (a name, show or press site). Only approved images moved. It may also be one of the 11 missing images listed under "What moved from the old Image Exchange".

Can I edit a migrated image's caption or credit?
Yes, if you have Media Contributor or Media Admin on Image Exchange. Long captions are safe to edit.

Who can upload to Image Exchange?
People with Media Contributor or Media Admin on the Image Exchange library. Ask your manager or support to request access.
